Covid-19 – Our clinic remains open for urgent care and can arrange a consultation for all patients via video link.
Dr Howard Stevens, a leading consultant and founder of Skin Care Network explains recent advances in skin cancer diagnosis.
Skincare Network is one of the few clinics in London with a dedicated, multidisciplinary team, delivering best practice skin cancer treatment. Including dermatological, or plastic surgery, pathology services and the gold standard, Mohs surgery.
Our consultant dermatologists, surgeons, maxillofacial surgeons and oncologists specialise in treating skin cancer. Their skills are supported by radiotherapists and dermatology nurses experienced in cancer management.
Personal Skin Cancer Treatment
Our patients naturally receive the best treatment from a dedicated team. Of equal importance, is the compassionate support and personal care they offer.
Skin cancer treatment has progressed in recent years and recovery rates are high but we understand the level of concern patients may have. Helping with this aids recovery and is our instinctive wish.
Cancer care of all types is enhanced by understanding the person you are treating. A key aspect of the consultation you will have with one of our London clinicians.
The consultants you will see specialise in skin cancer care, including four leading Mohs surgeons and a consultant histopathologist. Their reputation for skin cancer treatment in London is outstanding.
Consultation & Diagnosis
You may initially see one consultant, who will manage your case, offer all the support, advice and explanation you need. Our multidisciplinary approach to skin cancer treatment will still be there when needed.
Beyond assessing your physical condition, perhaps where patches on your body are, their size and number, we want to ensure you have the best diagnosis available.
Our consultants do consult with each other, work as a team. They share knowledge of unique cases and if they can shed light on your case, they will. Cancer treatment is a developing science, high level knowledge should be shared.
The latest technology supports our team, whether this is confocal microscopy to replace a surgical biopsy, or mapping change and progress through digital imaging. Knowledge and science complement each other.
The same thoughts apply to a standard biopsy when required, to microscopy, or histology, conducted in house and by expert hands working together. We want nothing to be missed, the best possible treatment plan defined.
Treating Skin Cancer
Skin cancer is a wide term and can consist of skin level growths, or lesions, early, or advanced melanoma, a spread to other parts of the body, or unique combinations of these.
Skin cancer numbers have risen, yet improved awareness and early, accurate diagnosis see many cases confined to the first stages. Successful treatment can come from medicated creams, cryosurgery (freezing), lasers, or non invasive, photodynamic therapy.
Where surgical excision is needed, this is kept to the minimum to safely remove unwanted areas. An ethos which is taken to new levels in Mohs micrographic surgery, a procedure we specialise in.
Our wish is for London skin cancer treatment to lead the world, to offer a centre of excellence, where every patient finds professional support. If you feel we can help, you will be made welcome.
