The video above reflects different options, not just private healthcare. Still useful to look at the overall standards and reputation UK health services hold.
Dermatology of a high standard is available in the UK, although the nature of treatment means this is unlikely to be free to non European visitors, such as those from Australia, Canada, the US, Asia, China, or the wider world.
The NHS make clear which treatment is likely to be free and the care a dermatologist would offer will rarely be included. This is why the recommendation for personal medical, or travel insurance is made clear on their website.
An alternative is to pay for treatment, although our clinics often treat visitors, or temporary residents from a wide range of countries and they tend to be insured. We are able to help ensure requirements for a claim are met.
Private UK Dermatology
Although the NHS offer a good service, dermatology is amongst the higher end of medical services people in the UK choose to use privately. This has helped to make sure excellent services are available, particularly in larger cities, such as London.
Choice is welcomed and there are others but the facilities at our clinics are representative. You are able to quickly see leading consultants and access state of the art care, in an ethos geared to personal support.
All dermatological conditions can normally be diagnosed and treated. Whilst established practices will have full time consultants, the UK approach means they are likely to be able to call on other dedicated skills if needed.
You may also find that alongside wider dermatology, larger clinics offer specialist care, such as our skin cancer assessment and treatment:
Skin Care Network London
Our London dermatology clinic is open 6 days a week and during evenings. The clinic is well equipped, with a particular emphasis on using the latest technology, such as confocal microscopy to reduce the need for surgical biopsies.
This in no way reduces personal treatment, or a welcoming atmosphere, where every patient is regarded as unique. Alongside wider care, our consultants bring experience of paediatric dermatology, or treating people with darker skin colours.
Ex pat communities in London from Australia, Canada and the US mean we have regular visitors from those countries. Our consultants do however have knowledge of skin conditions across the globe and all patients are well supported.
You will be seen by a skilled consultant dermatologist in a friendly, yet professional setting, with your health our only concern. If we can help with advice, or you would like to arrange a visit, please get in touch at any time.
