Job Title: Registered Nurse (Band 5)
Reports To: Clinic Manager / Lead Dermatology Nurse
Location: Skin Care Network
Working Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week), with shift patterns starting at 07:30 and ending 21:00 and occasional weekends.
Purpose of the Role
The Registered Nurse will provide high-quality, patient-centred care within a dermatology setting, supporting both medical and aesthetic treatments. The postholder will play a key role in delivering phlebotomy services, assisting dermatologists and consultants with clinical procedures, managing patient pathways, and ensuring that all care is provided safely, compassionately, and in line with professional and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Perform phlebotomy and support other minor clinical procedures (e.g., biopsies, cryotherapy assistance, wound care, total body photography, patch testing, prick testing excimer phototherapy).
- Assist consultants and dermatologists in medical and aesthetic treatments, ensuring infection control and patient safety at all times.
- Provide pre- and post-procedure patient education, ensuring understanding and informed consent.
- Monitor patients’ progress and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with NMC and clinic standards.
Patient Care & Experience
- Deliver exceptional, empathetic care to all patients, ensuring comfort and dignity.
- Contribute to a positive and welcoming environment that reflects Skin Care Network’s reputation for excellence.
- Manage patient enquiries and follow-up calls as required.
Operational & Team Responsibilities
- Support the daily operations of the clinic, ensuring efficiency and adherence to protocols.
- Participate in stock management, ordering clinical supplies, and maintaining treatment areas.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team (dermatologists, managers, administrative staff, and other Health Practitioners).
- Support audit and quality improvement initiatives.
Professional Development
- Maintain up-to-date registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Participate in ongoing training related to dermatology, wound management, infection control, and dermatological skin care.
- Show interest and initiative in developing specialist skills (e.g., laser safety, skin lesion recognition, or cosmetic/dermatological treatments if applicable).
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration (Band 5 equivalent).
- Phlebotomy experience (competency certified or evidence of recent practice).
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in dermatology, plastics, or cosmetic nursing.
- Knowledge of wound care, skin lesion assessment, or aesthetic procedures.
- Experience in a private healthcare or outpatient clinic environment.

Salary Suggestion
- Band 5 equivalent (newly qualified to 2 years): £29,400 – £34,650
- Experienced Band 5 (2–5 years, dermatology or phlebotomy specialism): £34,650 – £39,900
