Botox treatment involves the controlled injection of Botulinum Toxin into your skin. This may sound dangerous but is remarkably safe in skilled hands and has long been licenced across the UK.
The toxin has a localised affect, blocking impulses from nerves to the facial muscles, which can cause lines, wrinkles, permanent frowns, bands in your neck, or a less than ideal chin shape.
Dermal fillers are a separate treatment from Botox, to fill unwanted contours, such as hollow cheeks, facial imperfections, scars, or folds. Botox and dermal fillers can equally be used together, to give a smoother, more youthful appearance.
Skin Care Network will arrange an appointment with a consultant dermatologist, or one of our specialist aesthetic staff. They understand the anatomy of your skin and any underlying medical causes for the issues you are seeing.
Our consultants naturally discuss the changes you would like to make in your appearance and how Botox, or dermal fillers work. Their first duty is still to ensure they will be safe for you and are the best option.
They will come to a decision with you on the path to take for optimum results and create a personal treatment plan to achieve them.
Safe Botox Treatment
Although Botox treatment is widely marketed, we can not over emphasise the need for this to be carried out by properly trained and experienced hands.
With this assured, Botox is safe and fairly painless. A tiny needle is used to inject a small amount of toxin into several areas of your face, the entire process often complete in ten, or fifteen minutes.
After treatment, your skin in the treated areas remains smooth, whilst carefully untreated facial muscles continue to work as normal. Your natural expression will not notably change, except for the areas you wished to change.
Treatment With Dermal Fillers
When we age, collagen and other tissue can deteriorate, often around our eyes, mouth, cheeks, or brow. Dermal fillers replace this loss of volume, with man made, or natural materials, which are delicately injected into your skin.
As with Botox, a very small needle is used. You can experience a stinging sensation, although the latest products we use have local anaesthetic built into them, to eliminate discomfort.
Treatment with dermal fillers in our London clinics takes around 30 minutes. The positive results are long lasting, the exact duration varying with the ability of your skin to absorb the materials.
Botox and dermal fillers are not generally permanent, treatments every four to six months will maintain the look you want. There is however growing evidence that dermal fillers help the body replace natural collagen, leading to permanent improvement.
Whether you are considering dermal fillers, Botox, or a mix to suit your individual needs, our cosmetic dermatologists are there to help and advise. You are welcome to arrange to meet them at a time to suit.
