Mole mapping
Moles are flat or raised skin lesions and they can be rough or smooth and vary in colour from light to dark brown. They can appear at birth or in childhood or early teens. You may have just a few dotted around your body or you may have a lot.
Most moles are harmless, however, very occasionally they can develop into malignant melanoma. This is an aggressive form of skin cancer which should be treated as early as possible. It is important that you keep an eye out for changing moles and seek advice from a doctor or dermatologist experienced in looking at skin cancer if you have concerns.
If you have a large number of moles or if you have a family history of skin cancer, we can help you keep track of them with Mole Mapping. This is computer aided monitoring of all the moles on your body. Combined with a regular Dermatologist visit, this technology provides the highest accuracy for detecting melanomas. It also helps to avoid unnecessary excisions of innocent moles
A Total Body Scan gives overview images of the whole body which ‘map’ the moles. They are digitally imaged and recorded along with information from you, such as change observed, itchiness, tenderness and any other concerns you have. They are then measured, analysed and stored for future comparison.
After each scan they are compared side-by-side with previous images to detect patterns, even the slightest change. These images are encrypted and saved on our secure server.
We see our treatment as a partnership with you, monitoring your wellbeing over the years, offering peace of mind as well as expertise.

You can expect the highest quality of treatment and care. It starts with an initial, half hour screening appointment with a Dermatological Nurse. Your results will be studied by a Dermatologist who will also meet with you for a brief consultation.
If there is any sign of abnormality a further appointment will be made where a treatment plan will be drawn up and options discussed carefully with you. Most abnormal mole removal is by excision. If everything looks normal an appointment will be made for screening in six months time.
Patients who have Mole Mapping will see us every six to twelve months. We offer a quick response and peace of mind. You do not need a GP referral to us unless you have private health cover.
