Intense Pulse Light (IPL)

This is a non-invasive photorejuvenation option which provides a remarkable treatment for telangiectasias (small blood vessels near the skin surface), broken capillaries and benign brown pigmentation from sun damage to restore a youthful texture and more translucent complexion to the entire face.

This is FDA-approved, patented technology that pulses broad spectrum light (which filters out harmful wavelengths) to treat the skin and eliminate signs of aging. We can advise you what can be safety treated with IPL, thus avoiding inappropriate treatment of skin cancers and pre skin cancers. Our Dermatologists have been fully trained and understand the skin, and so can optimize healing. Within a few treatments, you will see smoother and firmer skin with a decrease in fine lines and light wrinkles.

The Pulsed Dye Laser

Pulsed Dye 585nm Lasers (PDL) get their name from the use of a liquid dye as the lasing media. They are designed to deliver short bursts of light that last only a fraction of a second and they effectively remove birthmarks and other red blemishes on the skin. Low power PDLs may also be used to improve the appearance of wrinkles and acne scarring by stimulating regrowth of collagen within the skin.

When used to treat acne we recommend monthly PDL. It can be used alone or in combination with chemical peels to improve the acne and the acne scarring.

The UltraPulse Encore Active Fx and Deep Fx

Encore’s Deep Fx and Active Fx

Active Fx is a major advance in the treatment of skin ageing. The Encore uses a CO2 laser in three different modes to produce precise resurfacing of the skin resulting in smoother skin with a more even colour. CO2 laser resurfacing has become the gold standard for the treatment of skin ageing and scarring giving excellent results for many years.

By using the latest fractional resurfacing techniques the skin heals much quicker than before, resulting in an excellent safety profile. To ensure the best possible healing we will give you a care sheet which details the pre-procedure care and after care recommended. Treatment takes one hour.

The Active Fx component of the Encore is an excellent treatment for brown spots and sun damage. It helps superficial skin texture and fine lines and usually just one or two sessions are required. Post treatment you can expect some redness and pinpoint scabs which usually last three to five days.

The Deep Fx, as its name suggests, targets the deeper supporting structures which have been damaged by many years of sun exposure. It reaches those wrinkles and scars to produce a pronounced skin tightening. Optimal results can be achieved with one to three sessions.

With the Deep Fx there is some immediate bleeding, crusting and swelling which lasts for two to four days. Redness will disappear within a week although the skin may be pink for longer. This can easily be covered with a little make-up. Most people will return to work in four to six days.

The Total Fx is a combination of both Active FX and Deep FX performed on the same day. It helps with both superficial and deep skin rejuvenation. Post treatment there is some pinpoint bleeding, redness and swelling. The scabs peel off about a week later.

eMatrix

eMatrix uses radio-frequency (RF) technology and is a sublative skin rejuvenating system. It is a world first for this system to use RF technology. It works by directing RF energy at the skin in the form of a grid, or matrix. Surrounding healthy skin accelerates the healing process of the skin. New collagen and healthy skin cells are produced and mild to moderate wrinkles and superficial skin discolorations are reduced.

Treatment is safe and effective for most skin types and the result will be more smooth and elastic skin. eMatrix achieves a balance between the gentler treatments with less effective results and the more aggressive therapies that require considerable recovery time. During treatment you will feel a warm, prickly sensation as energy enters your skin. A pink or red sunburn appearance is common afterwards. Topical anesthetic ointments and cooling are used to reduce unpleasant effects during treatment.

Typical treatment is three sessions, four to six weeks apart. The total number of treatment sessions you need will depend on your skin’s condition. We will discuss this with you as part of your holistic treatment plan.
