Dermatitis

Contact dermatitis is where the skin becomes inflamed, often after contact with a particular substance. Symptoms are itchy, dry, red and scaly skin. It most commonly affects the hands and occurs more in women than in men, probably due to their exposure to environmental factors.  Symptoms can come and go and, although it can be severe, most people suffer only mildly with it.

We treat contact dermatitis with medications such as emollients and topical corticosteroids, which reduce swelling and redness during flare-ups.
